It’s hard to realize in the moment how fast time flies by. Whether it’s a couple weeks, a handful of months, or even a few years… you will inevitably look back and wonder where the time has gone.

What's included in a newborn photo session?

Our goal is to make sure you & your baby love your session and that you get photos back that you’re proud to show off to family and friends. Every session is unique, but we always strive to give a consistent experience, style, and quality of images. Newborn photo sessions include the following:

  • Planning a session specifically for you

    We'll send you a questionnaire to fill out, so we know how to prepare for your session. Each session is unique, and we want your photos to reflect your priorities, style, etc.

  • Our entire studio reserved for your photo session

    Our studio is reserved for half of the day for each newborn session. Most baby sessions take 90-120 minutes, but we don't want a time limit to keep us from capturing precious photos of your baby.

  • Access to our props & client closet

    We have a collection of baby clothes, swaddling, toys, headbands, etc. that we can take advantage of during your session.

  • Thorough editing & retouching to make every image stunning

    All of our photos go through the same detailed culling, editing, and retouching process to make sure every single one is stunning.

Who is Laura Pinckard?

Laura Pinckard - newborn and maternity photographer in Queensbury, NY (in between Lake George and Glens Falls)

Laura is a highly acclaimed photographer whose work has been published locally and internationally in publications like Insider Magazine, Vogue Thailand, Saratoga Bride, Dirty Boots and Messy Hair, and Looks Like Film.

Her photography journey started off with couples and wedding photos, but that naturally led to maternity and newborn photos as her clients began having babies. Fast forward to today, Laura has clients traveling from hours away for newborn and maternity photoshoots. 

Laura has also trained other photographers around the world, both in creative techniques and business strategies.

About Newborn Sessions

  • When should I schedule my newborn / baby session?

    We recommend booking as soon as possible, because we only accept 7 due dates per month! That allows us to be flexible and get you in ASAP when your baby decides to make their entrance.

  • How soon after birth should I have my newborn session?

    The sweet spot for newborn photos is between 3-10 days after birth. This is because baby is generally the most flexible and sleepy during this time, which allows for all those adorable poses! We can absolutely take photos after 14 days - just know that your baby may be a little more stretched out and wiggly.

  • What kind of safety precautions do you take for baby photos?

    Your baby’s safety is without a doubt our #1 priority. We are extremely cautious to wash our hands & sanitize the studio between each client to ensure you and your baby are in the safest environment possible. Additionally, if you prefer, we are more than happy to wear face masks during your session. We just ask that you let us know ahead of time so that we can be prepared.

  • How do I book without knowing exactly when my session will take place?

    Great question! As you know, sometimes your baby has their own agenda regarding when they will make their grand entrance into the world. We only accept 7 newborn sessions per month so we'll have flexibility to get you in as soon as your little one arrives. You can reserve one of those 7 spots in advance.

  • Do you provide props and outfits for baby photos?

    Yes! We have a variety of props, outfit changes, and backdrops available for your baby session. If you have anything specific in mind, we can create a plan that fits your vision during our initial Planning Session.

  • What am I responsible for bringing to our photo session?

    While we have plenty of outfits and props on hand, we just ask that you bring the basics! Usually this includes milk, pacifier, diapers, and wipes.

  • What is the best time of day for baby photos?

    We strongly recommend scheduling your session for the morning or mid morning. The most ideal time will also depend on your baby’s sleep schedule, as we’ll want to start photos as soon after their morning nap as possible.

  • Can siblings + other family members be involved in the photos?

    We do offer family sessions where we can involve more people than just your baby. Our three baby photo options are baby only, baby + parents, and baby + family.

  • Where will the baby session take place? Do you travel?

    We can book an in-home session, but most baby photo sessions take place in our studio in Queensbury, NY. Pricing for in-home sessions depends on the distance we’ll need to travel. You can call us at (518)338-3129 if you have any questions!

  • What should we wear for the photos?

    We recommend any family members that will be involved in photos to stick to neutral colors or black and avoid busy patterns. This way your baby can have the spotlight in your photos.

  • Are you able to edit out skin blemishes, flaky skin, etc.?

    Definitely! We do retouching on every single image that you order, and we're more than happy to spend additional time on some images if there is severe acne, bruises, or other blemishes.

  • How long do baby photo sessions take?

    Generally we plan for roughly 120 minutes for a newborn shoot, but we don't set a strict time limit! Sometimes your baby is running the show and we’re on their timeline. You may have to take several breaks throughout the session for feedings, changing, burping, etc. We don’t want you or your baby to feel rushed throughout this process.
